Tony de Zorzi will captain an SA Invitational XI in a 50-over match against the Netherlands at the Tuks Oval on Tuesday, 28 March.
Other Proteas-capped players in the squad are North West Dragons’ all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy and EP Warriors wicketkeeper Sinethemba Qeshile.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for these players to show what they can do against an international team,” said CSA director of cricket Enoch Nkwe. “The exposure alone will be great for the group.”
The match will also serve as preparation for the visitors ahead of the two ODIs against the Proteas on 31 March (Willowmoore Park, Benoni) and 2 April (Wanderers, Johannesburg). Temba Bavuma’s men must win both to stand a chance of qualifying directly for the World Cup in India later this year.
High-performance manager Vincent Barnes added: “We are also looking to grow our players base amongst all our national teams and this is a chance for the uncapped players in the squad to get a feel of what is like to play at the next level.
“The squad itself is a mix of experience and youth – players that have done well in domestic cricket over the past season. We look forward to seeing how they do against the Netherlands.”
