Tony de Zorzi scored a century as Western Province thrashed the KZN Inland Tuskers by 141 runs (DLS method) in the One-Day Cup match at Newlands on Wednesday.
De Zorzi blasted 143 off 113 balls to help the hosts post 381 all out in 49 overs after time lost to rain delays resulted in the loss of an over.
He was well supported by David Bedingham (67 off 39) and George Linde (88 off 69).
Mbulelo Budaza (4-51) was the pick of the Tuskers’ bowlers.
In reply, the Tuskers were bowled out for 241 in 38.1 overs, with Malcom Nofal (70 off 59), Tian Koekemoer (53 off 71) and Kyle Nipper (46 off 38) making significant contributions.
Nandre Burger (3-42) dismissed both openers, Dilivio Ridgaard (five) and Kagiso Rapulana (16), before taking the final wicket of Nipper.
Linde claimed the two crucial scalps of Nofal and Pite van Biljon (two), while Abdullah Bayoumy (3-36) cleaned up the tail.
In Division 2, the Northern Cape Heat beat the Mpumalanga Rhinos by six wickets in White River and the Eastern Storm recorded a 43-run victory against the Garden Route Badgers (SWD) in Benoni.
