KZN Dolphins all-rounder Ruan de Swardt will miss the CSA T20 Challenge after undergoing back surgery.
The 24-year-old has been battling with back pain and underwent lumbar surgery on Wednesday, which will keep him out of action for two to three months.
“You never want to lose a player to injury on the eve of the season but we’re confident that Ruan will make a strong recovery,” said Dolphins coach Imraan Khan.
“He’s an important part of the team both on and off the field and we will support him on the road to full fitness.”
