Dhananjaya de Silva has sustained a thigh injury that has forced him out of the Test and tour.
The Sri Lankan all-rounder was forced to retire hurt on 79 on day one of the Test against South Africa. A subsequent MRI has reveal a grade two hamstring tear, ruling him out of the remainder of the series.
It is a massive blow for Sri Lanka, who will now play the remainder of the Test with just 10 batsmen, while also missing out on his off spin.
Sri Lanka will h0pe he recovers in time for the series against England which starts on 14 January.
