• Steyn hits back at Kiwi commentator

Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn has hit back at Kiwi commentator Simon Doull claiming he is suffering a ‘mid-life crisis’ due to his long hair.

The former New Zealand cricketer, currently an international commentator, took aim at Steyn as he was making his debut for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League this past Friday.

Steyn was sitting in the changing room when the camera focused on him, with Doull suggesting the South African has ‘a little mid-life crisis with that hair’.

Steyn didn’t take the comment lightly and responded on Twitter. He originally asked which commentator had made the comment before taking aim at Doull, saying the commentator should rather focus on his own responsibilities.

‘If your job is to talk about the game, then do that. But if you use that airtime to abuse anyone for their weight, sexual choices, ethnic backgrounds, lifestyle etc or even hairstyles, then im afraid I have no time for you as a human. You and anyone else like that to be fair,’ Steyn tweeted.

He continued in a further tweet that he really enjoyed making his debut for the Gladiators, where spectators were allowed to attend the match.

Steyn went on to claim figures of 2-44 in his four overs but the Gladiators lost the match against Peshawar Zalmi.

‘That’s all I have to say. It was a great time last night, fantastic to play in front of crowds again, cricket is so much better that way. We lost but hopefull to pull it together in our remaining games. Thanx for the support Have a great weekend everyone,’ added Steyn.
