• CSK thump RCB

The Chennai Super Kings picked up a much-needed victory by beating the Royal Challengers Bangalore by eight wickets in Dubai on Sunday.

The CSK bowlers did an excellent job to tame the lethal batting unit of RCB that saw the dangerous AB de Villiers depart for 39, while Virat Kohli worked his way to a steady half century.

But, tight bowling at the death by Sam Curran was backed up by some excellent fielding by Faf du Plessis on the boundary that saw RCB reach 145-6 in their 20 overs.

In response, Du Plessis helped CSK get off to a solid start by adding 29 of 13 deliveries at the top of the order before he was dismissed by Chris Morris.

Fellow opener, Ruturaj Gaikwad, however, smashed his way to an unbeaten 65 as CSK got over the line in the penultimate over of the match.

In what was only their fourth victory of the campaign, CSK managed to climb above the Rajasthan Royals from bottom spot on the IPL standings, depending on whether the Royals can avoid defeat to the Mumbai Indians in the second game on Sunday.
