Cricket South Africa await news on the fitness of Vernon Philander, who picked up an injury in a County Championship match against Kent.
Philander was unable to take the field for Sussex in their match against Kent and will travel to London to undergo scans as Sussex and CSA hold their breath on his availability.
CSA have been cautious with keeping their key players fit and injury free ahead of the Proteas’ tour to England, which includes a three-match ODI series, the Champions Trophy and a four-match Test series.
Having already prohibited Quinton de Kock from taking part in the IPL due to his injury, CSA will be concerned about the fitness of their experienced seamer.
There is some good news, however, regarding the return of Dale Steyn, who could see game time for SA A on his road to fitness.

Proteas openers Stephen Cook (Durham), Dean Elgar (Somerset) and Wayne Parnell (Kent) are also playing in England ahead of the tour.
Squad announcements for the England ODI series will take place on Wednesday.
