The tenure of the CSA interim board has been granted one final extension to the middle of May.
Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa announced on Sunday morning that he will use his powers as minister to take the ‘necessary steps’ against CSA, following the members’ council’s vote not to amend the Memorandum of Incorporation (MOI) at a special general meeting over this past weekend.

CSA interim chairperson Stavros Nicolaou subsequently admitted he was not surprised by Mthethwa’s indication that he is planning to act against the organisation.
Nicolaou has since confirmed that Mthethwa presented a 20 April deadline to convince him why he should not trigger Section 13 of the Sports Act. There is apparently still hope that remains that this could be avoided if the CSA members’ council accept the amendments to the MOI.
