Cricket South Africa CEO Pholetsi Moseki says the vacant director of cricket post must be filled “urgently”.
Graeme Smith’s full-time two-year contract with CSA expired at the end of March. The former Proteas captain did not reapply for the position.
“We expect the shortlist from the company that handles the search for top candidates within the next week,” Moseki told Rapport newspaper.
Moseki said CSA’s disciplinary process against Smith should be settled this week.
“We expect the arbitration report on Graeme on or before Tuesday. Following that, we will move forward. We have advertised five executive vacancies.”
Moseki would not comment on speculation that former Cape Cobras coach Ashwell Prince is in line to replace Smith.
Prince resigned from his position as Bangladesh batting coach in February and was a commentator for SuperSport during the Tigers’ recent tour of South Africa.
