• CSA awards: Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year?

    The annual Cricket South Africa awards will take place in Pretoria on Saturday. Several accolades will be handed out, including the Women’s T20 International Cricketer of the Year.

    The candidates: Shabnim Ismail, Marizanne Kapp, Dané van Niekerk.

    ‘Kapp’s star continued to rise in the T20 format. She scored 273 runs with a high score of 56 not out, and claimed 13 wickets with a best of 3-17.

    ‘The Proteas quick took 21 wickets at an average of 16,33, including her season-best figures of 3-10. Ismail’s ferocious bowling and passionate wicket celebrations left a mark on players and fans across the world.

    ‘The national captain was once again central to her team’s success. Before suffering an injury, Van Niekerk scored 488 runs in 14 matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike rate of 114.82. She also took nine wickets.’ – Cricket South Africa.
