• CSA advertises for convenor of selectors

Cricket South Africa has advertised for convenor of selectors Linda Zondi’s successor.

Zondi’s tenure has not been renewed. His exit has coincided with those of Proteas head coach Ottis Gibson, batting coach Dale Benkenstein, spin bowling coach Claude Henderson and fielding coach Justin Ontong.

‘A fixed-term position for a convenor of selection has become available. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the existence of effective talent identification and selection systems as well as processes across all levels of the pipeline with the view of CSA having winning and representative national teams,’ reads an excerpt of the job specifications on CSA’s official website.

‘The role will report to the director of cricket and is integral to the effective and efficient functioning of the cricket services department. Being in the sport of cricket, the role requires the ability and willingness to travel, work long hours, over weekends and public holidays where necessary.’

Several stakeholder-relationship responsibilities are also listed among the job’s duties. CSA is also hiring a supply chain manager.

Former coach Corrie van Zyl was named acting director of cricket earlier this month. A full-time appointment will be made later this year. Interim team director Enoch Nkwe, meanwhile, has taken over from Gibson for September and October’s tour of India.

The Proteas and India will contest three T20Is and as many Tests.
