Marchant de Lange continued his impressive match for Somerset after his 75 with the bat yesterday, picking up three wickets on day three as bad light affected the match.
Another South African also performed on the day with Leicestershire skipper Colin Ackermann making a gutsy 67 in response to Somerset’s big total of 461-9.
Dane Paterson played a key role in Notts’ emphatic victory by an innings and 36 runs, the Proteas quick got 2-24 in the first innings and 3-22 in the second. In a losing effort for Derbyshire, Leus de Dlooy scored 30 and one while left-arm seamer Michale ended with figures of 2-65.
At the Rose Bowl, Surrey’s Hashim Amla added only five runs to his overnight score and was dismissed for 29 as his side was bowled out for a meagre 73 by Hampshire. Kyle Abbott played his part with figures of 3-31 as Surrey were asked to follow on.
Elsewhere, the County Championship’s leading run-scorer, David Bedingham, was not out at stumps on 37 for Durham. They are batting after bowling out Warwickshire for 237; Proteas opener Pieter Malan scored 31.
Northamptonshire’s Wayne Parnell followed up his 2-26 in the first innings with 1-18 in the second against Yorkshire. Duanne Olivier picked up 3-34 in the final innings of the match to help Yorkshire to a 53-run win.
In Hove, Stiaan van Zyl’s misery was amplified – he followed up his five earlier in the match with a duck in the second innings.
