David Bedingham was the star on day two of the County Championship round and added more gloss to an already impressive season for the South African.
The 27-year-old got over his mini-slump with another century for Durham, before the match, he went six innings without a 50. His 127 gave Durham a healthy first-innings lead and also extended his lead in the run-scoring charts, Bedingham is now over 100 runs clear of second place.
Stiaan van Zyl’s indifferent season continued, he managed only 15 in Sussex’ first innings against Yorkshire. There was no play on day two between Essex and Nottinghamshire, Simon Harmer went wicketless in his 26 overs for Essex.
Pieter Malan’s (0 & 0) tough season for Warwickshire got worse on day two when he got out for a duck making it a pair for the Proteas opener. That’s seven innings without a 50 for Warwickshire this season. Interestingly, it was another South African, Micahel Cohen, who picked up Malan’s wicket.
Ricardo Vasconcelos scored 66 for Northamptonshire against Kent on day one to add to his two centuries for the season. Dane Vilas has batted already twice for Lancashire scoring 12 in both innings.
Over in Taunton, Roelof van der Merwe scored 88 for Somerset against Hampshire who had Kyle Abbott in their attack, he finished with figures of 1/132 bowling for Hampshire. When Somerset went into bowl, Marchant de Lange picked up two wickets.
Colin Ackermann backed up his century in the last match with a well played 57 for Lancashire on day one.
