Shukri Conrad has been appointed as the new head coach of South Africa A.
The former SA Emerging coach will take the reins for their upcoming tour of England in May and June next year, as well as the annual tri-series against India A and Australia A in South Africa after the England tour. He replaces Malibongwe Maketa after a mixed season with the side.
The SA A team will play a series against the England Lions, which includes three 50-over matches, as well as a four-day unofficial Test match.
In addition to the tri-series, South Africa A will play four-day unofficial Test matches against India and Australia.
‘We have reviewed the needs of our national coaching structures and decided to make a longer term Head Coach appointment for the South Africa ‘A’ squad,’ said CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat.
‘With greater emphasis on planning and developing our next best players, the appointment will be effective immediately.
‘As Shukri’s responsibilities with the A team will clash with the CSA Academy Winter Programme, an interim coach will be appointed in due course to replace Shukri as the CSA Academy head coach,’ said Lorgat.
