JP Duminy has been withdrawn from the Cobras CLT20 squad due to injury.
The All-rounder suffered a knee injury during the Proteas recent tour of Zimbabwe. He hasn’t recovered sufficiently and didn’t board the flight to India on Saturday as a result.
Duminy has officially been withdrawn from the Cobras squad, but a replacement is yet to be named. According to ESPNcricinfo, the name put forward by the Cobras management was rejected by the CLT20.
It’s a massive blow for the South African franchise. Duminy is one of their star international players and his experience of playing in the IPL would have been invaluable during the sides quest for glory. He is the Cobras second-highest run-scorer with 981 in 40 matches and his accurate off-spin bowling would have been handy on the slow Indian surfaces. His absence will force Cobras coach Paul Adams to juggle a few players in order to restore the balance of the team.
