The Coastal Conquerors beat the Eastern Warriors by six wickets in Stellenbosch to secure the Cubs Week title.
The Conquerors’ hero was Chad Laycock, who scored an unbeaten 111 off 78 balls (11 fours, five sixes). Laycock and Nathan Trevethan (46*) shared an unbeaten partnership of 168 for the fifth wicket.
Ntando Zuma (47) and Banele Cele (46) also made valuable contributions, with their partnership for the third wicket worth 98.
The Warriors batted first and amassed 297-9 in their 50 overs with Daniel Ristow scoring 89 and Jean Upman 50.
At the start of the final day, five of the six sides were still in title contention. Only the Central Gladiators, who finished the week winless, were not.
The Gladiators reached 188 against the Southern Superstars thanks to their tail-wagging with contributions from Greg Ford (33*), Tsepho Stafa (29) and Christopher King (27). The team from Gauteng had been in big trouble at 90-7.
The pick of the Superstars’ bowlers was Abdullah Bayoumy (4-33).
The Superstars secured the bonus-point victory with Juan James (79*) and Gysbert Wege (74) adding 138 runs for the third wicket.
The Northern Champions finished their week on a high with a four-wicket victory over the Western Legends.
The Legends were restricted to 172 with Hanro Swanepoel (65) and Tshireletso Tikoe (47) making the biggest contributions with the bat and Letsholo Selemela taking 4-34 with the ball for the Champions.
Champions captain Schalk Engelbrecht then made 48* to secure the win.
