The Jozi Stars have signed West Indian batsman Chris Gayle for the Mzansi Super League. Gayle was revealed as the Stars’ international marquee player at Wednesday’s draft.
Seamers Alfred Mothoa, Duanne Olivier and Beuran Hendricks, spinners Simon Harmer and Eddie Leie, wicketkeeper-batsmen Dane Vilas, Ryan Rickelton and Sinethemba Qeshile, batsmen Pite van Biljon, Rassie van der Dussen and Reeza Hendricks and Australian all-rounder Dan Christian have also joined the stars. South African all-rounders Calvin Savage and Dwaine Pretorius were recruited, too.
The Stars will be coached by the Lions’ Enoch Nkwe. Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada is their marquee Proteas player.
The inaugural Twenty20 tournament will feature six teams and span 32 matches, from 16 November to 16 December 2018. The Stars’ home matches will be played at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
