Dave Richardson, one of South Africa’s best wicketkeepers, celebrates his birthday on Wednesday.
Richardson (55) played 42 Tests for South Africa, collecting 152 dismissals. A more than useful batsman, Richardson scored nine Test fifties as well as a century, against New Zealand in Cape Town in 1994-95. In his next Test, against Pakistan in Johannesburg, he made a pair, a minor blip in a highly successful career.
In January 2002 he became the ICC’s first general manager, and a decade later its chief executive.
