South Africans Cameron Delport and Hardus Viljoen will join the St Lucia Zouks for the 2019 Caribbean Premier League.
The pair will effectively replace Sri Lankan Niroshan Dickwella, who has been ruled out of the tournament. Delport will act as cover for Dickwella for the first two matches, and Viljoen the rest.
Batsman Delport is currently part of Essex’s T20 Blast campaign. He has also represented the Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League, Paarl Rocks in South Africa’s Mzansi Super League, Sydney Thunder in Australia’s Big Bash League, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel in the CPL, Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League and several others.
Viljoen has played for the Kings XI Punjab in the IPL and Qalandars in the PSL.
Proteas seamer Beuran Hendricks has also withdrawn from the Zouks squad after being selected for next month’s three T20Is against India.
The St Lucia Stars franchise was removed from the CPL earlier this month, with the Zouks replacing the Stars.
‘We completely disagree with the CPL press release and will be working to address any issues the CPL may have in an appropriate manner and forum,’ Stars chief executive officer Jay Pandya told ESPNcricinfo at the time.
