Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait, signed for Glamorgan as a replacement for Dale Steyn in the Natwest T20 Blast, admits he has to step up.
Steyn has moved on to the Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League, but in his short contract he took 11 wickets in five matches, helping Glamorgan to the top of the South group.
‘If I can do half as well as Dale I’ll be happy,’ said Tait. ‘He’s a nice guy and a great bowler. If I can turn up and take a few wickets – as long as the team is winning – I’ll be happy.
‘It’s easier and nicer to come into a winning side and hopefully I can come in and perform well,’ Tait said. ‘I’ve played in a few teams in different countries and I know what the T20 game is all about – but my job is to come in and take wickets and help the team win.’
Tait comes with great experience in the format having played in the IPL and the Big Bash League. He has also represented Australia 21 times in the format.
Glamorgan have been the form team in the T20 Blast with five wins from seven games so far this season, and Tait says that he’s looking forward to contributing to propel the team to even more success.
