Jos Buttler finally smashed a century to set up a 55 run victory for the Rajasthan Royals over the embattled Sunrisers Hyderabad in Delhi.
After being sent into bat, RR ended on an impressive 220-3 in their allotted 20 overs. This was down to the extraordinary power hitting of Buttler (124), the Englishman smashed 11 boundaries and eight 6’s in a well paced innings. He was ably assisted by his captain Sanju Samson (48), together they put on a 150-run partnership. South African David Miller (7*) finished not out and hit a six.
Already low on confidence and without former captain David Warner, SRH struggled to ever get to grips with the chase. Star men Jonny Bairstow (21) and Kane Williamson (30) got starts but never kicked on. SRH were eventually fell way short of the mark on 165-8. South African Chris Morris (3-29) picked up three wickets and moved into second place in the purple cap race with 14 wickets.
Both teams occupied the two bottom spots before the match, RR have now given their playoff push some impetus and hope while SRH remains rooted to the bottom and in disarray after the Warner fiasco this week.
