WP fast bowler Nandre Burger and batsman Tony de Zorzi have been awarded their first national contracts by CSA.
Another paceman, Gerald Coetzee, was upgraded to a full contract during the 2023-24 season and has been retained for the 2024-25 season, while all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo returns to the contracted Proteas squad.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock, who is now only available for T20I selection, fast bowler Anrich Nortje, who recently returned from injury, David Bedingham, who has made an impressive start to his Test career, and wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne are notable omissions.
“He requested he wants to focus on T20 cricket for the next few months,” CSA director of cricket Enoch Nkwe told ESPNcricinfo when asked about Nortje. “He is not retiring from any internationals. He will avail himself for T20 internationals. Towards the end of the year, he will look to play ODIs again.”
Meanwhile, the Proteas Women’s contracted squad has increased from 15 to 16, with Dolphins fast bowler Ayanda Hlubi and Titans all-rounder Eliz-Mari Marx earning their maiden national contracts following an impressive debut international season.
