• Bumrah on Rabada: I don’t focus on individuals

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has downplayed flattery from Proteas star Kagiso Rabada ahead of this week’s first T20I in Dharamsala.

Rabada recently applauded the success of Bumrah, but reminded fans and critics alike to be mindful of the ups and downs of international cricket.

The South African and Indian currently occupy second and third position, respectively, in the International Cricket Council’s rankings for Test bowlers. They will oppose each other in this month’s three T20Is and as many Tests in October.

‘I don’t look at all these things. I don’t focus on individuals. For me, the team’s success is important. I look forward to what I can do and what contribution I can make in the team’s success,’ said Bumrah.

‘I am looking forward to it. The preparations have already started. A lot of thought process goes behind this. A lot of preparation goes on.’

Rabada was also full of praise for England fast bowler Jofra Archer, who has claimed two six-wicket hauls during the ongoing Ashes series and was impressive during the World Cup earlier this year.

‘Archer is such a natural talent. It’s never easy maintaining a career. I’ve learned that there are a lot of highs and lows. I want to be the best in the world, everybody does. You are naturally going to compete in that fashion.’
