Faf du Plessis has been ruled out of the rest of the IPL season with a broken finger.
The Proteas T20 skipper was in good form for the Rising Pune Supergiants, leaving the subcontinent as the side’s second-leading run-scorer, with 206 runs at 34.33 with two half-centuries.
He revealed the news on Twitter, saying that he will be out for six weeks. If he is indeed out for this length of time, it will have an impact on the Proteas, who begin their Tri-nations series against West Indies and Australia in the Caribbean on 6 June.
And so my Ipl tournament unfortunately comes to and end.Broken finger and out for 6 weeks.Thanx India and @RPSupergiants it’s been fun.??

The Supergiants have had a tough run of luck, as Du Plessis joins Kevin Pietersen in the injury ward, after the ex-England batsman tore his calf muscle in the Supergiants’ loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore last Friday.
Pietersen suffered the injury attempting a quick run from his first ball, but wheeled around in pain and was carried off by the Pune medical staff.
Pietersen is expected to be out of action until November, just in time for his third stint with the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League.
Australia batsman Usman Khawaja could replace one of Pietersen or Du Plessis after Pune coach Stephen Fleming said his side was looking at the elegant left-hander.
‘He [Khawaja] is a guy we are surely looking at,’ Fleming said after the two-wicket loss to Kolkata on Sunday.
‘There is a shortlist we are working through so looking at availability and visas and the like, but he is certainly a guy we are interested in.’
