Dewald Brevis says it was an “amazing” experience to bat against the West Indies for an SA Invitational XI in Benoni on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old, who has yet to make his first-class debut for the Titans, came in at No 4 and struck 50 off 64 deliveries (eight fours, one six).
The hosts were eventually bowled out for 317 all out in 89.5 overs, in reply to the tourists’ first-innings 283-9 dec.

“I really loved it so much because being able to face the red ball is so amazing and is so different,” Brevis told News24 Sport after his innings.
“To be able to do that and do what you love in different formats is really amazing. It was important that I had a clear mind and just focused on the red ball.
“It was Shannon [Gabriel], it was Kemar [Roach] and they’re world-class bowlers. At the end of the day, it’s just you and the ball.
“It was about staying in the moment and focusing on the ball, respect its merits, and score when a chance arises.
“I wasn’t star-struck, I was happy to be here, and I felt like I belong here because, in terms of where I want to end up, my dream is to play Test cricket for the Proteas.
“Playing against this great side was exactly what I wanted.”
