Dewald Brevis’ second List A century wasn’t enough for the Northerns Titans, who suffered a two-wicket defeat to Western Province in the One-Day Cup in Centurion on Friday.
The Titans had collapsed to 40-5 in the 10th over, before Brevis (116 from 118 balls) rebuilt the innings with good support from Donovan Ferreira (44 off 41).
The hosts were bowled out for 217 in 41.3 overs, with Mihlali Mpongwana (3-47), Beuran Hendricks (2-18), Nandre Burger (2-52) and Dane Paterson ( 2-46) all contributing with the ball for WP.
Province were cruising to victory after Tony de Zorzi’s 40 off 44 balls and captain Kyle Verreynne’s 56, before a flurry of wickets gave the Titans hope.
But Beuran Hendricks and Dane Paterson got their team over the line with 19 overs to spare.
Mathew Boast (3-58) and Aaron Phangiso (2-55) were the Titans’ standout bowlers.

In Potchefstroom, Mitchell van Buuren (87* off 66 balls), Joshua Richards (51) and Ryan Rickelton (52) hit half-centuries as the Central Gauteng Lions posted 304-7 against the North West Dragons.
Wiaan Mulder (3-29) and Bjorn Fortuin (3-27) then helped bowl the Dragons out for 229 in 43.2 overs to secure a 75-run win.
Raynard van Tonder top-scored for the hosts with 57.
