Proteas all-rounder Chloe Tryon will play for the Hobart Hurricanes in Australia’s Women’s Big Bash League later this year.
Tryon has played one Test, 74 ODIs and 57 T20Is since debuting in May 2010. The hard-hitting right-hander’s ability with the bat were particularly evident during a career-best 43 against Pakistan earlier this year. The left-arm seamer has also taken 53 wickets in international cricket.
‘I’ve heard a lot of great things about the WBBL and the group the Hurricanes have got this season, I’m really looking forward to testing myself in the high quality competition,’ said Tryon.
The Hurricanes have also signed England Women’s batter Fran Wilson. She represented the Sydney Thunder in the 2017 edition of the Big Bash League.
‘It’s really exciting to have signed for the Hurricanes and to be playing a whole season in the WBBL,’ added Wilson.
‘I want to make an impact in the competition and contribute to a successful Hurricanes season, I can’t wait to be apart of the team.
‘It will be great to join up again with Salliann Briggs, who has had a big impact on my career so far in England.’
The Hurricanes first fixture of the 2019 tournament will be against the Melbourne Stars on 19 October. Their first home match will be against the Thunder on 2 November.
