The Nelson Mandela Bay Giants bought batsman Farhaan Behardien in round four of Tuesday’s player draft for the 2019 Mzansi Super League.
The Giants also purchased seamer Beuran Hendricks, batsman Matthew Breetzke and former Cape Town Blitz left-armer Nandre Burger.
Burger was key to the Blitz’s 2018 campaign in the wake of injury to fast bowler Anrich Nortje. Burger, in the interim, has joined the Cape Cobras from the Lions.
They have retained fast bowler Junior Dala, batsmen Jon-Jon Smuts, Heino Kuhn and Marco Marais and all-rounder Chris Morris.
Australian batsman Ben Dunk, too, has joined the Giants. Dunk played five T20Is between 2014 and 2017.
England batsman Jason Roy will continue to be the franchise’s international marquee player. Their local marquee player is still leg-spinner Imran Tahir.
The Giants finished in fourth position in last year’s MSL, after four wins and as many defeats and two no-results.
