Proteas captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out with injury for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan, which gets under way on Saturday.
Bavuma injured his hamstring during Wednesday’s 28-run defeat in the final ODI in Centurion, suffering a Grade One strain.
Wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen will lead the team in the absence of Bavuma, having taking the captaincy responsibilities during the three-match T20I series in Pakistan earlier this year.

The South Africans will also be without the services of Reeza Hendricks, who withdrew from the squad, following the birth of him and his wife’s first-born child on Tuesday.
Rassie van der Dussen, who missed Wednesday’s clash at SuperSport Park with a quad problem will be monitored throughout the series, while Aiden Markram, Andile Phehlukwayo, Daryn Dupavillon and Wiaan Mulder have been retained for the four T20I matches, although they were not initially announced as part of the squad.
Saturday’s first T20I between the Proteas and Pakistan gets under way at 14:30 at the Wanderers.
