England batsman Dawid Malan has joined the Cape Town Blitz for the Mzansi Super League. Malan was announced as the Blitz’s international marquee player at Wednesday’s draft.
Pakistani Asif Ali, West Indian spinner Samuel Badree, fast bowler Dale Steyn, batsmen Sibonelo Makhanya, Janneman Malan and Farhaan Behardien, seamers Malusi Siboto and Anrich Nortje, all-rounders Dane Piedt, Jason Smith, Ferisco Adams, George Linde and Andile Phehlukwayo and wicketkeeper-batsman Kyle Verreynne will also play for the Blitz.
Batsman JP Duminy was unveiled as the Blitz’s marquee Proteas player earlier this week, but has since been sidelined by shoulder surgery – and replaced by wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock.
The inaugural Twenty20 tournament will feature six teams and span 32 matches, from 16 November to 16 December 2018. The Blitz’s home matches will be played at Newlands in Cape Town.
