The 20-year old Lutho Sipamla sprang into the spotlight in the Mzansi Super League for the Tshwane Spartans, but the young bowler also showed his commitment in the field during the Warriors’ 4-Day Franchise Series match against the Cape Cobras at St George’s Park which started on 19 December.
Sipamla put in a great effort to chase a sweep down to the fine leg boundary, putting in a brave dive right at the end. Even though he wasn’t to prevent the boundary, what was incredible to see was his commitment right to the end, especially because his effort to dive to field the ball is something that is habit-forming and will create an instinct to dive more readily to stop other boundaries as well as taking catches.
It’s a great lesson from a fantastic young bowler, who we will hopefully see a lot of on the international stage.
The Cobras won the match by 37 runs with 3.2 overs in hand to cement their position at the top of the log.
