Former convener of selectors Andrew Hudson was the first South African to score a century on debut, scoring 163 against the West Indies in 1992.

It was South Africa’s first Test back after isolation and Hudson, who celebrates his 51st birthday on Thursday, batted nine hours for his 163, but it wasn’t enough as West Indies won by 52 runs.
