Former South African ODI and T20I batsman Colin Ingram has been added to the Trinbago Knight Riders’ squad for the ongoing Caribbean Premier League.
Ingram played 31 ODIs and nine T20Is before ending a promising international career by signing a Kolpak contract in England.
He has since become a key player for Glamorgan. His limited-overs prowess, as a hard-hitting left-hander and threatening leg-spinner, was displayed during Glamorgan’s recent Natwest T20 Blast campaign.
The 33-year-old has also enjoyed stints with the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League and Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League.
Ingram has replaced Australia’s Chris Lynn in the Knight Riders’ squad.
‘Losing a player of the calibre of Chris is a blow for any team but Colin is a proven performer and an outstanding T20 player, who will add firepower to the top order and is a useful bowling option as well,’ said Trinbago Knight Riders director Venky Mysore.
‘We are delighted to have him join Team TKR for the conclusion of the CPL.’
The Trinbago Knight Riders currently occupy second position in the six-team standings, after five wins in seven attempts. The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, who recently added Proteas spinner Tabraiz Shamsi to a formidable squad, are in first place after five victories and a superior run rate.
