The number of Proteas players isolating has risen to four as another player tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.
A player tested positive on Wednesday, and three of the team-mates he was in close contact with were forced to isolate. This second positive test, involving an unnamed player, has forced the cancellation of the Proteas’ inter-squad warm-up match, which was due to take place on Saturday.
With the series against England due to start on Friday, these players are likely to miss the first match.
England has returned no positive tests, and will go ahead with their inter-squad warm-up match at Newlands on Saturday.
‘Team management and Cricket South Africa are in close communication with their counterparts from the ECB to ensure full transparency and the most responsible plan of action going forward,’ a CSA statement read.
