Hashim Amla has made himself unavailable for the Cobras’ last few CSA T20 Challenge matches to ‘fine-tune’ his batting for the World Cup.
After a full run of form, Proteas veteran Hashim Amla has announced that he will not be playing for the Cobras in the remaining CSA T20 Challenge fixtures.
The 36-year-old has been in terrible form, scoring just 164 runs in 12 matches across all formats.
As a result, he has decided to focus on his form heading into the World Cup, which kicks off on 30 May.
‘I have opted not to make myself available for selection for the Cape Cobras for the remainder of the CSA T20 Challenge,’ said Amla on a Saturday.
‘I express my sincere gratitude to the Cobras coaching staff and team for the game time over the last 3 weeks, given the circumstances.
‘Ultimately I want to use the remaining time before the World Cup to fine-tune my batting and prepare for the tournament.’
