Former Proteas star Hashim Amla (38) sent out a reminder of his enduring class as he recorded an unbeaten 215 for English county side Surrey against Hampshire at The Oval.
Amla, who retired from international cricket after the 2019 World Cup, grabbed the headlines in the English County Championship proving to be the standout performer as Surrey moved to a mammoth 513-3.
For Amla, The Oval is a ground with many fond memories, as it is also where he struck a historic 311 not out against England in 2012.
The 38-year-old will be returning to South African domestic cricket next season, when he will play for Western Province in the new first-class structure.
7th first class double hundred for Hashim Amla & his first double hundred in County Championship. What a comeback by this man after 3 ducks in his first 5 innings in this season.
