Hashim Amla admits the current Proteas were at a loss to answer the questions posed by a dominant India side as the South Africans slumped to another disappointing defeat.
Speaking in the SuperSport studios after another poor day’s cricket from the South African team, Amla said that his heart went out to the squad.
New issue: Bavuma – one size fits all
‘They’ve just dominated us and unfortunately we haven’t had answers to their probing questions, consistent questions,’ said the former Proteas batsman.
Amla retired from the game with over 9,200 runs from 126 Test matches at an average of 46.64.

South Africa’s Faf du Plessis, meanwhile, would like to continue as Test captain, despite this month’s 3-0 Test series defeat to India.
The Proteas were trounced in Visakhapatnam, Pune and Ranchi, heightening suggestion that Du Plessis’ tenure as Test captain is nearing an end.
‘How I see my journey unfolding with this team is to help with the transition period. This period is to try and make that process a bit smoother, identifying the next leaders, identifying the next captains, working with them, and then when that time is right, that time will be right.’ said Du Plessis.
‘That’s something we spoke about before that wasn’t necessarily the case before.’
