Moeen Ali says he is pleased with England’s position heading into day three of the fourth Test against India.
The England all-rounder spun his side back into the contest after a meek batting display saw them topple for 246 in their first innings in Southampton.
After finding themselves on 140-2, India was expected to climb to a hefty total but a huge collapse made a slight lead seem out of reach as they dropped to 195-8.
They eventually were bowled out for 273 by the end of the day’s play, as Ali stole the headlines with 5-63, at the venue he took a six-for against the same side in 2014.
‘I think in the end, we’re very pleased. At one stage they were 140-2, going well, and so to bowl them out just 20-odd runs ahead is fantastic. It’s been good and nice to bowl on that wicket from that end. I have nice memories from the last Test I played here which helps as well,’ Ali told Sky Sports at the end of day’s play.
