Aiden Markram will miss the rest of the second Test after picking up a mid-left quadricep strain.
The 23-year-old did not take the field during India’s second innings and will receive treatment along with rehab during the week.
The Proteas medical team is confident that he will be fit for the third Test.
Markram scored 94 and 1 in his two innings.
The Proteas set India a target of 287 to win the match after they were bowled out for 258 in their second innings.
