South Africa suffered a Super Over defeat to Zimbabwe in the final of the Women’s T20 cricket tournament at the African Games in Accra on Wednesday.
Zimbabwe posted 112-5, with Modester Mupachikwa scoring 31 off 49 balls.
In reply, all-rounder Miané Smit made 31* from 32 balls for South Africa. But a run-out off the final ball resulted in a dramatic tie and forced the match into a Super Over.
In the subsequent six-ball shootout, Zimbabwe managed to claim two South African wickets, while conceding only two runs.
Zimbabwe then cliched the gold medal with a boundary off the second ball of their Super Over.
