Afghanistan opener Mohammad Shahzad blasted 61 from 39 balls to help his team beat Scotland by 14 runs in their World T20 qualifier on Tuesday.
The victory maintained Afghanistan’s winning run against Scotland as they have now won all six games between the two sides.
Shahzad produced a Man of the Match performance and was well supported by his captain, Asghar Stanikzai, who scored an unbeaten 55 off 50 balls. They shared a stand of 82 for the second wicket which drove Afghanistan to 170-5 in their 20 overs.
Scotland looked well on their way in chasing it down as their openers, George Munsey (41) and Kyle Coetzer (40), shared an opening stand of 84 inside the first nine overs.
However, Afghanistan’s spin-heavy attack came to the fore and dismissed them before dominating the middle overs to secure an important victory for their team.
