SuperSport broadcaster HD Ackerman will part ways with the company to take up a coaching role in Australia.
Ackerman, a regular columnist for SA Cricket magazine, leaves for Australia in September, where he has been appointed Director of Coaching at Guildford Grammar, a leading private school in Perth that boasts former Australian internationals Tom Moody and Brendon Julian as old boys.
He said the possibility remains that he could be used at SuperSport on a freelance basis from time to time.
‘I felt it was the best thing for my young family,’ he tells SACricketmag.com. ‘I hope I can continue in broadcasting when and if SuperSport require and coaching is always an option.’
‘Leaving SuperSport is a huge regret,’ he said. ‘Everyone has been so good to me and helped me grow as a broadcaster.
‘Every single Test match I worked on was a highlight. Being on air with Robin Jackman when Jacques Kallis got his first double ton and then calling live Temba Bavuma’s century at Newlands are among my most special moments.’
