AB de Villiers showed glimpses of his best, but Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane shared an 88-run second-wicket stand to help the Delhi Capitals to a six-wicket victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
De Villiers threatened to devastate the Capitals’ bowling, racing to 35 off just 21 balls before being run out. Devdutt Padikkal (50) and Virat Kohli (35) helped RCB to a challenging total of 152-7.
The Proteas pace combo of Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada took three and two wickets, respectively.
Ultimately, the night belonged to the Capitals, who have been bolstered by Dhawan’s excellent form of late. The opener scored 54, and in partnership with Rahane (60) eased their side to victory.
