Former Proteas fast bowler Kyle Abbott will join the Multiply Titans for the remainder of the 2020-21 domestic cricket season.
Abbott left the Proteas and South Africa in 2016 when he signed a Kolpak deal with Hampshire in the United Kingdom.
The right-armer represented the Dolphins in his local playing days prior to his departure. He will, however, be available for selection for the Saturday’s start of the Momentum One-Day Cup after meeting up with his new teammates in Pretoria.

‘2020 was a tough year,’ he admitted.
‘I didn’t play for nearly 12 months between games, so I was sitting pretty comfortable in Durban doing my fishing.’
Abbott gave the idea of joining the Titans some thought and will bolster an already impressive group of players, to be touted as one of the favourites to lift the trophy in Potchefstroom.
‘Having chatted to a few people around and having played against the Titans in the past, it’s a well-run unit. I felt it would be a perfect fit for me right now,’ Abbott added.
Titans coach Mandla Mashimbyi is also thrilled by Abbott’s arrival and believes his experience will be a massive boost for the whole group.
‘He will help the younger guys to actually grow and be in a better space from bowling point of view. It’s actually encouraging as a bowler, knowing that you are next to somebody that has done it,’ Mashimbyi said.
‘It just gives you a level of comfort, knowing that you can actually go and ask what to do in pressure situations. To have somebody like him is a no-brainer,’ Mashimbyi said.
