Royal Challengers Bangalore star AB de Villiers will miss Tuesday night’s IPL clash against the Gujarat Lions through injury.
De Villiers, who missed the first two matches of the campaign before striking a sensational 89 not out on his return against the Kings XI Punjab last week, followed that up with scores of 19 and 29 in what has been a disappointing season so far for RCB, sitting at the bottom of the standings.
The Proteas ODI skipper, who has amassed 2 754 runs at an average of 42.36 for RCB in the 96 matches he’s played, has had back problems, and sits out as a precaution. The upshot is that Chris Gayle could be in line to play, and is three runs away from becoming the first player in T20 history to score 10 000 runs.
Disappointed to be missing the match tonight for RCB, due to injury. Good luck to @imVkohli and the team. Lets go @RCBTweets !!
