Batsman AB de Villiers is understandably determined to recover from last week’s Mzansi Super League defeat by the Cape Town Blitz, come the fixture against the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday.
The Spartans were beaten at Newlands on Sunday and are currently in third position in the 2019 tournament’s six-team standings. The Giants are in second place.

‘We were a little bit off the money in that last game. But that happens sometimes,’ said De Villiers.
‘We would like to win every game we play from here. I think we’re maybe two wins away from going through to the knockouts.
‘We would obviously like to win all three that are left to finish top of the log. I think we have a very good chance should we win the rest to do that, but I think even with one win we could still go through.
‘So, we’ll have to wait and see.’
The Jozi Stars, meanwhile, have been ruled out of contention for a second MSL title this year. They are the reigning champions, after beating the Cape Town Blitz in last year’s final. They have since suffered seven consecutive defeats, though.
