AB de Villiers believes India have what it takes to beat Australia on their upcoming tour Down Under, adding that the Indian batting lineup is the best in the world.
Speaking to India’s Sports Tak, De Villiers said that India ‘have a wonderful team. I do think they have a really good chance in Australia. They need their bowling attack fit. We know what their batters can do and they will have to start well in Australia.’
De Villiers said he believes that the Indian bowling attack is ‘one of the best units in the world’, but added that ‘their batting lineup is the best batting lineup in the world. That’s my opinion. We all know what the Indian batting lineup is capable of, there’s no doubt about that.’

De Villiers added that Virat Kohli is a ‘fantastic captain and a great leader. He’s got a really good mind around the game of cricket. He is growing as a captain still but he is already, in my opinion, someone who the rest of India and cricket in India follows. I think he is a really good captain; he will go from strength to strength, there’s no doubt about it.’
When asked what makes Virat stand out from the rest of the batsmen in the world, De Villiers highlighted his mental approach.
‘I think Virat just knows his game well – that’s the secret in playing the best possible cricket for yourself, is to know your strengths and know your weaknesses. Know areas where you can maximise when you are out there in the field. I think Virat has sort of mastered that; he really knows his game well and that’s what makes him good.’
