Proteas legend AB de Villiers will be one of the coaches for the Titans’ black African batting camp this winter.
The camp was set up during the winter of 2023 with the purpose of fast tracking the development of talented black African batsmen, and the inclusion of De Villiers as a coach will no doubt accelerate the players development.
The first edition saw the Titans coaching staff mentor a group of five promising batsmen, over a three-day period. White-ball captain Sibonelo Makhanya also paid the young men a visit and took part in a net session.
“It’s always great when a former player gives back to the game of cricket and there are none bigger than AB de Villiers,” said Titans CEO Jacques Faul. “His inclusion will be massive to the players in the batting camp and will definitely fast track their progress and careers.
“I’m pleased at the outcome of the first batting camp we had but I think it was important for us to assess where we could make improvements. I can’t think of a better addition we could’ve made to mentor the young batters and I’m looking forward to see AB’s impact.”
