• Rassie retained by CPL franchise

Proteas batsman Rassie van der Dussen has been retained by the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots for the 2019 Caribbean Premier League.

Van der Dussen was not capped at international level during 2018’s first stint with the Patriots – and struck 94 runs in five innings.

He has since played nine ODIs and seven T20Is – and is part of South Africa’s squad for this year’s World Cup in the United Kingdom. The 30-year-old right-hander has also represented the Vancouver Knights in the Global T20 Canada and Jozi Stars in the the Mzansi Super League.

South African seamer Beuran Hendricks, meanwhile, was drafted by the St Lucia Stars. Hendricks was a late addition to the Mumbai Indians squad for this year’s Indian Premier League, but did not play a match. He previously represented the Kings XI Punjab in the IPL. The 28-year-old has played two ODIs and 10 T20Is – and was also part of the Jozi Stars’ title-winning MSL campaign.

The Trinbago Knight Riders, who boasted the services of former Proteas batsman Colin Ingram last year, are the reigning champions. South Africans David Miller, Tabraiz Shasmi and Cameron Delport played for the Jamaica Tallawahs, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors respectively, in 2018.
