Rishabh Pant served notice that he’s one to watch at the 2019 Cricket World Cup after blazing an astonishing undefeated 78 for the Delhi Capitals against the Mumbai Indians.
Shikhar Dhawan (43 off 36 balls, 4×4, 1×6, S/R 119.44) and Colin Ingram (47 off 32 balls, 7×4, 1×6, S/R 146.87) got the Capitals off to a cracking start, reaching 112-3 after 13 overs.
The stage was set for Rishabh Pant to unleash his full gallery of strokes as he lashed 78 runs off just 27 balls. Pant slammed seven fours and seven sixes at a strike rate of 288.88 in a truly phenomenal innings.
Pant’s hard-hitting helped his side finish their 20 overs on an imposing 213-6, with Mitchell McClenaghan the most economical of the bowlers, returning 3-40 (econ 10.00) from his four overs.
In response, Rohit Sharma (14 off 13) and Quinton de Kock (27 off 16) got the Mumbai innings off to a flying start, scoring 33 runs inside four overs before Sharma was caught at deep square leg. De Kock followed shortly thereafter to leave Mumbai on 45-3 after 5.5 overs.

Yuvraj Singh scored a fighting 53 runs off 35 balls with five fours and three sixes (S/R 151.42), and Krunal Pandya blasted away to rack up 32 runs off 15 balls (5×4, 1×6, S/R 213.33), but Mumbai were all out for 176 in the 20th over to fall 37 runs short of their target.
Ishant Sharma picked up 2-34 off his four overs (econ 8.50), but Kagiso Rabada was outstanding value for money, returning figures of 4-0-23-3 (econ 5.75) to keep the Mumbai batsmen in check.
